This past week my math group has been working on learning the properties of 2D (flat) and 3D (solid) shapes. Instead of just having the children memorize each shapes properties they built each shape using toothpicks and candy gumdrops. The toothpicks acted in place of the shapes side and the candy gumdrops acted in place of the shapes vertice or corner. The children truly enjoyed building the shapes and can easily identify, draw, and label each shapes properties.
